My mom always tells me that as a child I never wanted to play with dolls or toys. As long as I had a pen and a piece of paper I was pretty much content... and not much has changed since then.
Growing up I naturally had a knack for creative subjects like visual arts, photography and computer graphics, but at the same time I excelled in technical courses, such as math and science. These combined strengths led me to pursue an education in design within the built environment. I went to school for Architectural Technology at Humber College in Toronto, Ontario and continued my education at Ferris State University in Grand Rapids, Michigan with a BSc in Facility Management.
After residing in Washington, DC over the past several years working as a Facility Management Consultant at Facility Engineering Associates, I decided to move back home to Toronto and currently work in construction project management at Mazenga Building Group.
I deliberately made the choice not to pursue a full-time career in fine art. I never wanted to feel like I was being forced into creating something. I decided instead to let art be an outlet for my passion - my escape.
I do however enjoy taking on freelance projects. I make sure to limit these to subjects that interest me as an artist or would help me grow and hone my skills. If you would like me to create something for you, feel free to contact me and we can get the creative juices flowing!
I typically aim for all of my pieces to captivate the essence of creativity and self-expression. I strive for my artwork to possess a surreal element in them. It is important to me that viewers of my artwork can look at my pieces and get lost into the details that I deliberately embed in them. I tend to hide messages in many of my pieces that may not be discovered by anyone else, but act as a signature that I create for myself. To me art is a dream; it is something that people create because it does not exist in real life and this sentiment is exactly what I try to portray in the pieces that I create.
